Stone Features
There are many beautiful statues and stone features on the market today which could enhance your park or garden. Also available from us however, are individually designed natural stone features that are completely unique one to the other. By this very idiosyncratic nature of a piece of stone, it’s shape and size, it will tell you how it wants to rest in position during construction. Just like the rockeries there is a vast range of stones available to choose from. Green, pink or silver granite - brown York stone - cream Cotswold - grey limestone - white spar - rainbow quad rock - blue or plum slate - golden quartzite - red sandstone -marbles, whinstones and purbecks; the list of colours and textures goes on.
In the example of the York stone cave sculpture in the gallery, last year a client wanted a stage for a statue of a lady in meditation and we were given free reign to design and build as such. Built within its structure are large and small chambers for wildlife such as hedgehogs, lizards and voles to inhabit. To date; bees and dormice have moved in and birds are nesting in the purpose built stone birdhouse on the top. It is a very organic process and is a very harmonious and satisfying way of working with the most timeless of natural materials.
So, from small intimate pieces to dolmens, large glacial boulders or standing stones, could there be any better way to create a quiet monumental spot in the garden for reflective moments.
